Zucchini seeds are easy to save. Allow a few fruit to grow super big, let them sit for awhile, and then slice them open.
Scrape out the seeds. Rinse them and let them dry. Sort out the bad seeds from the good. The bad seeds are non-viable and won't grow. You can tell them from their thinness - they're missing the middle bits inside the seed. They look more concave than convex.
This year I grew Cocozelle zucchini, a long green stripey variety. Again, a moderate harvest, but nothing great. I've had better harvests with black beauty zucchini. Of course, it could be just the year - some years some veges do well, and others don't. This year was great for my peppers and lettuce, so-so for cukes and zukes, and bad for tomatoes and beans. You win some you lose some.
